Anta's core brand design language is driven by performance sport, Chinese sports culture, and athlete endorsement narratives. The KAI sneaker collaboration (Kyrie Irving) and the Klay Thompson signature line define the brand's highest-profile product design output. Eileen Gu (freestyle skiing, signed 2020) brings sports-fashion crossover positioning. Portfolio brands operate with independent design directions: Fila (retro-sport graphic), Maia Active (Chinese female athleisure, print-forward), Arc'teryx (technical minimalist), Salomon (trail/outdoor performance).
Anta was founded in 1991 and used the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a major marketing platform. The company listed on the HKEX in 2007 at HK$5.28 per share. In 2009, Anta acquired the Fila trademark for mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao from Belle International, building a substantial Fila business across those territories.
In December 2018 an Anta-led consortium (with FountainVest Partners, Anamered Investments, and Tencent) completed a successful tender offer for Amer Sports (the Finnish group managing Arc'teryx, Salomon, Wilson, and others); Anta now holds 44.5% of Amer Sports. Jack Wolfskin (German outdoor brand) is separately owned by Anta. In October 2023, Anta acquired a 75.13% stake in Maia Active, a Chinese female athleisure brand. In January 2026, Anta acquired a 29% stake in Puma for €1.5 billion, becoming Puma's largest shareholder.
Anta served as official supplier to the International Olympic Committee until the end of 2022, sponsoring 26 Chinese national teams across winter sports, boxing, taekwondo, gymnastics, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, surfing, water polo, and golf.
Core Anta brand: sportswear, footwear (including athlete signature shoes), apparel, activewear, accessories, kidswear (Anta Kids, AntapluS).
Portfolio:
Anta Sports is publicly listed on the HKEX. The Fila business in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao is operated under a trademark licence acquired from Belle International in 2009. Amer Sports operates as a semi-independent subsidiary with its own brand portfolio and distribution infrastructure. The Puma stake (29%, January 2026) is a strategic financial position.
Key athlete endorsement contracts: Klay Thompson (10-year, up to $80M, from 2017), Kyrie Irving (5-year, from 2023), Eileen Gu (from 2020), Kevin Garnett (from 2010), Kenenisa Bekele, Manny Pacquiao, Alex Caruso.
Anta is the third-largest sportswear company globally - a position built through the core Anta brand in China, the Fila brand operation in greater China, and international portfolio expansion through Amer Sports and the Puma stake. The brand competes directly with Nike and Adidas in the Chinese market and increasingly in international markets through its portfolio.
Athlete signature shoe graphic design: The Kyrie Irving KAI sneaker (launched 2024) and Klay Thompson signature shoe line are Anta's highest-profile branded product design outputs. Athlete-endorsed footwear with custom graphic identities co-developed with the athletes represents the most SPD-intensive commercial category in the core brand.
Fila China: Fila has a strong retro-sport graphic heritage - bold logotype, colour-blocked and striped sportswear. Anta's operation of Fila across mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao involves extending and translating this graphic identity through seasonal collections across Fila, Fila Fusion, Fila Kids, and Fila Athletics sub-brands.
Olympic uniform design: As IOC official supplier until end of 2022, Anta designed and manufactured uniforms for 26 Chinese national teams - large-scale applied surface design across multiple sports, representing one of the most significant national-team sportswear commissions in Chinese sports history.
Maia Active: A Chinese female athleisure brand (75.13% stake, October 2023). Female athleisure is a print-intensive category; Maia Active's acquisition adds a print-forward women's segment to the Anta portfolio.
Amer Sports portfolio: Arc'teryx is known for technical surface construction (laminated membranes, graphic tape seaming, engineered patterning); Peak Performance produces printed outdoor and ski apparel at a premium price point.
Puma (29% stake, 2026): Puma has an established graphic and print heritage across sportswear. Anta's strategic position as Puma's largest shareholder creates a significant cross-brand surface design alignment.
